At QBL, we can trace our heritage back to the
early years of the last century, and the ambition
of the enterprising Hartley brothers who first
hit upon the idea of developing a small packing
facility in the back of their pharmacy.
From these humble beginnings a chain of 40 shops
in Lancashire and London was rapidly established,
as well as the formation of major wholesaler,
Hills Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
By the mid-1980s, the packaging function of the
wholesale operation had expanded into a self-contained
business, annexing the Briercliffe premises in
its entirety following the relocation of Hills
Pharmaceuticals to Warrington. In the wake of
a comprehensive programme of refurbishment in
1993, the company underwent a management buy out
from parent company Gehe in 1998 and today is
committed to the continued provision of quality
pharmaceutical packing services as we move forward
into a new century.
